As a child my favorite thing was waiting for the postman to come and see if I received any mail from my pen pal in North Sydney, NS. With no Internet to see the world and all its diversity, it was always exciting to see photos she sent me, and read her letters about the things her and her family did that week. Unfortunately, today in a world full of technology, traditional letter mail has stepped aside to a faster means of communication. Now 19 years later after my pen pal, my son will be 7. He is struggling with finding a way to put his thoughts on to paper and I thought "what better way then through letters!?". So we created our "traveling pals".
Our pals are 4 different characters that will travel the world for us, with the help of all of you. There is "Flipper the Frog", "Theodore the Teddy", "Pepper the Penguin", and "Poncho the Puppy". On the back of each pal are directions, but basically we ask each "host" to explore your town, home, family etc and share it with us using letter mail. You can take photos with the pal, send us a post card or letter or even share a souvenir if you wish. After you have mailed us your letter/photos etc then it's your job to pass the pal on to someone else. But please, only give him to someone who wants to participate and try to do it within 1.5 weeks after getting your pal so it doesn't get lost or misplaced :) The items we receive will be scanned and shared here on the blog. This means that each host and others can look back and follow our pals journey too! As a thank you, our family will return the favor with a letter to you and your family as well. We can't wait to see where our pals adventures will bring us!
